Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, October 22: As part of the Police Martyrs’ Week celebrations, Srikakulam District Superintendent of Police, Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, organized a district-wide Open House Program across all police stations on Wednesday.
The initiative aimed to promote awareness among students, youth, and the general public about the functioning of the police department, its services, use of modern technology, and efforts in maintaining law and order and public safety.
During the program, police officers explained various aspects of police work — including crime prevention measures, digital record management, and public safety operations. Demonstrations were held showcasing the use of modern equipment and technology such as drones, body-worn cameras, wireless communication systems, bomb detection and disposal devices, speed guns, gas guns, and breath analyzers.
Special sessions were conducted to educate participants about cybercrime awareness, traffic regulations, and the role of police dogs in tracking explosives and suspects. Visitors were also given guided tours of the police station facilities, including the reception area, computer room, rest room, lock-up room, and property section, to understand daily police functioning.
Students actively interacted with officers and learned how an FIR (First Information Report) is registered and how cases are processed. Officers also briefed them on important laws and citizen responsibilities in maintaining peace and order.
SP Maheshwara Reddy highlighted that the Police Martyrs’ Week is observed to honor the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He noted that five police personnel from the Srikakulam district had laid down their lives while ensuring internal security.
He announced that the Open House Program will continue in all police stations until October 31, allowing students and the public to gain deeper insight into police services and to pay tribute to the martyrs whose dedication inspires the force every day.
