Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: As part of ongoing efforts to enhance women’s safety, Shakti Teams of Srikakulam Police are conducting extensive awareness programs across bus complexes, schools, and colleges in the district. Acting under the guidance of District SP Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, the teams educated women and girl students on the importance of downloading and registering the Shakti App, a government initiative for the protection of women and students.
The teams visited government schools and colleges in Srikakulam, Tekkali, and Kashibugga, explaining the benefits of the app. Students were informed that in times of distress, pressing the Shakti App button or dialing 112 would immediately alert the police, ensuring they reach within ten minutes to provide assistance.
Police officers emphasized that every woman and student should download and register with the Shakti App to avail its safety services.
