Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: An awareness programme on cyber safety and responsible use of social media was conducted for students at the Gurajada Education Society in Munusabupeta.

Addressing the gathering, Vivekananda, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Srikakulam, cautioned students about the serious consequences of misusing social media platforms. He explained that offences such as face morphing, online harassment, and sharing inappropriate content are considered serious cybercrimes and can lead to strict legal action.

The DSP emphasized that even actions done for fun on social media could negatively impact a student’s future, and advised students to use digital platforms responsibly. He also pointed out that excessive use of social media may affect academic performance and mental well-being.

Students were advised not to share personal information or photographs with unknown persons online and to immediately inform their parents, teachers, or the police if they receive suspicious messages or links.

The programme was attended by Paidipu Naidu, Rural Inspector of Srikakulam, along with representatives of the Gurajada Education Society, faculty members, and students. The initiative aimed to promote cyber awareness and ensure safe online practices among youth.
