The newly established A&N police force Anti-Narcotics Police Station in Port Blair has marked its inception with a successful operation, leading to the arrest of an individual smuggling illicit substances. Acting on precise intelligence, a dedicated team comprising officers from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station and the CCS & CID Unit intercepted and apprehended Nantu Kumar Mondal (35), a private worker hailing from Bhatubasti near Saw Mill and a permanent resident of Purba Medinipur, West Bengal.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics, took place at the Port Blair airport on February 2, 2024. Nantu Kumar Mondal had arrived on a Vistara Airline flight from Kolkata, and upon thorough inspection, the police discovered and seized a concealed stash of 75 grams of Ganja from his bag.
The arrest was executed with precision by a team consisting of SI P. Moideen Kutty, PC M. Raja Rao, PC Vishal Kumar, and LPC Nandita, following all required formalities. Mondal, a permanent resident of Gobradan, Purba Medinipur, was promptly taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act-1985.
