<![CDATA[A 54-year-old policeman, attached to the Korukkupet police station, ended his life by hanging from a tree at the fishing harbour in Kasimedu on Tuesday. According to the police, Mr.T. Joseph, who was a resident of the police quarters in Tondiarpet, worked as a Special Sub-Inspector in the crime wing of the Korukkupet police station. On Monday afternoon, he left home and was supposed to go to court. The police said that he neither went to court nor appeared for night duty. He was marked absent on Monday. When his wife Shanthi, 50, called the Korukkupet police station, his colleagues said that they did not have any clue about his whereabouts. On Tuesday, fishermen found him hanging from a tree. They alerted the police. His body was sent for post-mortem. The police added that he had huge debts. We suspect that to be the reason. We are investigating.
