Hyderabad, Telangana: As part of the “Jagruth Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad” initiative aimed at preventing cybercrime and promoting digital safety, the Golconda Zone Police organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Conference at Mahaveer Hospital, Masab Tank.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime, V. Aravind Babu, attended the conference as the chief guest. Addressing hospital staff and members of the public, he provided valuable guidance on safeguarding against the growing threat of cyber fraud.
During his address, the DCP highlighted emerging trends in cybercrime, including online financial scams, phishing attacks, fake social media profiles, and OTP-related frauds. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures to protect their personal and financial information.
Key Precautions Shared at the Conference:
* Avoid Unknown Links: Do not download APK files or remote access applications received from unknown sources.
* Protect Privacy: Never share bank account details, PINs, OTPs, or passwords with anyone.
* Verify Online Offers: Carefully verify the authenticity of online job or loan advertisements before responding.
* Beware of Mule Accounts: Do not allow others to use your bank account for transactions, as criminals often exploit such “mule accounts” to carry out illegal activities.
* Stay Alert to Investment Scams: Do not trust investment schemes promoted through WhatsApp, Telegram, or Facebook without proper verification.
* Report Immediately: In case of cyber fraud, immediately dial the national helpline 1930 or file a complaint at the official cybercrime portal.
The DCP emphasized that active public participation is crucial in building a cybercrime-free society and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to creating a safer digital environment for all citizens under the “Jagruth Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad” campaign.
