Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu: In a significant breakthrough, a special police team acting on the directives of Sivaganga District Superintendent of Police Ashish Rawat, I.P.S, has arrested a suspect involved in a major housebreaking and robbery case. The arrest was made during a targeted vehicle check in the Soolakkarai area of Virudhunagar district.
The special team, led by Karaikudi DSP Parthiban and comprising Kundrakudi Police Inspector Sundari, Sub-Inspector Palani Kumar, Special Sub-Inspector Saravanan, and constables Ilayaraja, Parthiban, Murugan, Gopalakrishnan, Karthik, and Muruganandam, carried out the operation with precision and vigilance.
During the search, police recovered a substantial haul, including 45 sovereigns of gold jewellery, ₹14.7 lakh in cash, and three modern cars valued at approximately ₹25 lakh. The suspect, who had been operating as a car broker, had managed to evade CCTV surveillance, making his capture a major success for the investigation team.
Following a detailed interrogation, a case was registered, and the accused was remanded to judicial custody.
District SP Ashish Rawat IPS commended the efforts of the entire special team for their swift and effective action. Their dedication not only led to the recovery of stolen assets but also reinforced public confidence in the police force’s ability to swiftly crack down on criminal activity.
