Thrissur City, Kerala: In a remarkable display of courage and timely intervention, the Chavakkad Police Station in Thrissur City prevented a serious incident of violence and saved a man who attempted to take his own life following a family dispute.
On 13.02.2026 at around 4:30 pm, Chavakkad Police received an urgent call from the Thiruvathra area reporting a violent altercation between family members in which one person had been injured in a knife attack. Acting swiftly, Inspector V.V. Vimal directed Sub-Inspectors Sajith Mon and Sajeev to rush to the scene immediately.
Police officers promptly reached the location, intervened in the violent situation, and prevented further escalation. The assailant initially fled and later locked himself inside a house with a knife. Despite repeated attempts by police officers, locals, and relatives to persuade him to open the door, he remained unresponsive.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Civil Police Officers Rajith and Sivaprasad, who had also arrived at the scene, made determined efforts to gain entry. While attempts were made at the front entrance, the officers managed to force open the back door and discovered the man unconscious inside the house after attempting self-harm.
Without hesitation, the police officers administered CPR on the spot. After sustained efforts, the man regained his breathing. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors later confirmed that his condition had stabilized.
Through their swift response, presence of mind, and life-saving action, Chavakkad Police not only prevented further violence but also saved a precious life. A case has been registered, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
