HYDERABAD: A swift move by the Telengana Police saved 26-year-old woman software from the two miscreants who tried to sexually assault her in a moving car on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway on Wednesday night. The two persons were detained by the Special Operation Team (SOT) Police of Rachakonda in Hyderabad, Police said. The victim escaped from the clutches of the duo and lodged a complaint with police of Choutuppal in Nalgonda district, Police said. Police said that, a case has been registered under the New criminal amendment (Nirbhaya) Act, after which it was transferred to LB Nagar Police in Hyderabad for further investigation. A woman was waiting at LB Nagar crossroad for a bus to travel to Vijayawada on Wednesday night, according to the police. The two men saw the victim waiting on the road. The two men took the cab and approached the victim, and convinced her that they would take her to Vijayawada, Police said. “The victim trusted them and got into the cab after fixing a price for the travel to Vijayawada. The accused tried to sexually assault her after the vehicle crossed Panthangi Tollgate, near Choutuppal. The victim started screaming and hitting the doors of the vehicle and the assaulters halted the vehicle. The victim immediately managed to get off the vehicle and quickly alerted the Police control room staff,” Police said. Based on the woman’s phone signal the police mobile vehicle reached the spot and took her to the Choutuppal police station. A case was registered and then transferred to LB Nagar police station. “Special teams were formed and the two accused were detained from Moula-Ali locality for committing the offence. LB Nagar Police also seized the vehicle from the accused”. ]]>
