Ranga Reddy, Telangana: In a major crackdown on interstate narcotics trafficking, the SOT Cantonment Zone team, in coordination with the Abdullapurmet Police Station, successfully busted a drug peddling racket and apprehended two accused persons. The team seized 164.86 kilograms of ganja, a Kia car, and two mobile phones, with the total value of the seized property estimated at ₹41,21,500.
The case has been registered as Cr. No. 162/2026 under Sections 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985, at Abdullapurmet Police Station.
Accused Arrested:
Nabin Sabar (28), resident of Gajapati district, Odisha.
Sudhkar Mandal (27), resident of Gajapati district, Odisha.
Seized Property:
* 164.86 kg of ganja (approximately)
* Kia car bearing registration number AP-39-QR-2975
* Two mobile phones
Operation Details:
According to police officials, the accused, originally from Odisha, were working as drivers and allegedly turned to drug transportation for financial gain. They reportedly came into contact with a drug peddler from Berhampur, Odisha, who offered them ₹60,000 per consignment for transporting ganja from Odisha to states including Maharashtra and Karnataka. The accused had allegedly delivered two consignments earlier.
Acting on credible intelligence on March 1, 2026, at around 1:59 PM, the SOT Cantonment Zone team along with Abdullapurmet Police intercepted the Kia vehicle at Nalgonda Dharma Kanta, before the Outer Ring Road towards Hyderabad. Upon inspection, 164.86 kg of ganja concealed in 80 packets wrapped with brown adhesive tape and hidden in the car’s boot was recovered. The contraband was seized under due legal procedure, and both accused were taken into custody.
One of the accused, Nabin Sabar, was previously involved in a criminal case registered in Odisha in 2023.
The arrested individuals are being produced before the Hon’ble Court for judicial remand.
The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of senior officers of the zone, reflecting the firm commitment of Telangana Police to curb drug trafficking and safeguard society from the menace of narcotics. Further investigation is underway.
