Chennai: In an attempt to ease traffic flow and to avoid traffic snarls on Anna Salai, diversions were already made at Anna Salai x Dams road junction and at Anna Salai x Thiru-vi-Ka road junction, which has got widespread welcome by the motorists. In continuation, a study was made at Anna Salai x Smith road junction and the following traffic diversions made are planned for 10 days on trial basis from 4.6.2022.
At present the vehicles coming from Spencer junction are allowed to take left turn in one way at Pattulas road to reach Whites road. In same way the vehicles coming from Whites road are allowed from Smith road in one way to reach Anna Salai. During morning and evening peak hours the volume of traffic is normally high on Anna Salai which resulted traffic chaos at Spencer junction and Smith road junction. To ease out the traffic snarls the following diversion proposal is suggested from 4.6.2022.
The vehicles coming from Spencer junction can take Smith road to reach Whites road and the vehicle coming from Tower Clock junction will be allowed through Pattulas road to reach Anna Salai.
The vehicles coming from Spencer junction and from Pattulas road will be allowed to take ‘U’ turn at Smith road junction to reach Anna Salai incoming direction.
The straight going vehicles towards Anna flyover can move continuously without any stoppage at Smith road signal. After this diversion Smith road signal can be closed and traffic will move freely without any stoppage at this signal. Motorists are requested to Co-operate with the changes in the traffic.
