Tumkur: Forest department personnel have arrested three workers who were hunting peacocks and eating their meat in a brick kiln at Maranayakanapalya near Panditanahalli village in the district. Arrested accused are Bitting Naik, Baishak Dau and Duba Kapat from Odisha.
Acting on certain information, a forest team led by RFO Pavithra and DRFO Rabbani raided the shed of SRS brick kiln and recovered peacock meat. Meat weighing 1.5 kg, feathers, nets and utensils used for cooking have been seized. The samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for testing.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
