Thrissur City, Kerala, July 9 – In a commendable display of alertness and coordination, the Peechi Police apprehended a notorious vehicle thief during a routine vehicle inspection, reinforcing public trust in proactive policing.
The incident traces back to June 28, 2025, when a scooter hit a car at Mudikode Junction under the Peechi Police Station limits and fled the scene without stopping. Acting swiftly, police contacted the scooter’s registered owner and discovered it had been reported stolen from Kollamkode police station limits.
The Peechi Police promptly alerted the control room, leading to an intensified vehicle inspection drive. The breakthrough came when the Mannuthi Highway Police intercepted the stolen vehicle at Thanipadam. Upon verification, the rider was identified as Santosh (45), a native of Telakodan, Koovappadi, Chiranelloor.
Santosh is a repeat offender with over ten cases of theft and robbery across various districts and has several Lookout and Pending (LP) warrants, including those from Kodanad and Perumbavoor police stations.
The arrest was made possible through timely inter-station communication and coordinated patrolling efforts. The efficient police team comprised Sub-Inspector Joshi, Senior Civil Police Officer G Joe, and Civil Police Officers Ashiq Suresh, Sreejith, and Anoop M Raj.
This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of Thrissur City Police in tracking down habitual offenders and ensuring road safety through vigilant enforcement.
