The accused, identified as Suraj.A, aged 26 and son of Ravindran, residing at Pallail House, Nandikara, lured an innocent young man from Palakkad Kalmandapam into his deceitful scheme.
It all started when the victim, in search of part-time online employment opportunities, came across Suraj.A’s enticing offers on various social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram. The promises of being able to earn a substantial income from the comfort of his home seemed like a golden opportunity to the hopeful young man.
Suraj.A skillfully manipulated the victim’s trust, convincing him that he would provide a plethora of online jobs that could help him achieve financial stability and independence. Buoyed by the allure of easy money and the prospect of a better future, the young man fell victim to the fraudulent ploy.
Trusting the deceitful promises, the victim willingly transferred a substantial sum of Rs.2,35,000/- to multiple bank accounts as instructed by Suraj.A. With each transaction, the victim became increasingly convinced that he was inching closer to a prosperous online career.
However, the cruel reality soon dawned upon the young man when he received no job assignments or payments. Realizing that he had been duped and left in dire financial straits, he decided to take immediate action and filed a complaint with the Palakkad Cyber Crime Police Station.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Palakkad District Police Chief Mr. Anand R IPS took personal interest in the matter and directed his team to launch a thorough investigation. The cybercrime unit worked tirelessly, following digital trails, and conducting interviews to unravel the intricate web of deception.
Their diligent efforts bore fruit, as they were able to trace the fraudulent activities back to Suraj.A. The evidence gathered against him was substantial enough to establish his culpability beyond doubt, leading to his eventual arrest.
