Wayanad, Kerala, November 10: In a display of prompt response and compassion, the Meppadi Police rescued an elderly woman trapped inside her house and rushed her to the hospital after she was found in critical condition.
The incident took place in Chembothra, Meppadi, where the woman, who lives alone, had not opened her door even after noon. Concerned neighbors alerted the police after repeated calls and knocks went unanswered. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team from Meppadi Police Station reached the spot and attempted to make contact.
When there was still no response, the officers broke open the door and found the woman lying unconscious inside her house. The team immediately arranged an ambulance and shifted her to Meppadi Hospital, from where she was later referred to Vythiri Taluk Hospital for further treatment.
The rescue operation was carried out by Senior Civil Police Officer M.V. Bigesh, Civil Police Officers Reshma and Sanju, and Driver SCPO Prashanth.
Their quick and humane action ensured that the elderly woman received timely medical attention.
The Wayanad District Police have urged the public to promptly report such incidents and emphasized the importance of community vigilance in caring for senior citizens living alone.
