Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli: In a commendable initiative to promote public safety, the Tirunelveli District Fire and Rescue Department organized a mini marathon aimed at raising awareness about fire prevention. The event, which drew enthusiastic participation from 70 firefighters, was flagged off by Tirunelveli Zonal Deputy Director Saravana Babu.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director Saravana Babu emphasized the importance of community awareness in preventing fire-related incidents. He highlighted that the marathon serves not only as a fitness initiative but also as a vital campaign to educate the public on fire safety practices.
With the summer vacation season in full swing, the Deputy Director also issued an important advisory to parents and guardians, urging them not to allow children near water bodies without adult supervision. Stressing the importance of water safety, he encouraged the public to utilize the government swimming pool at Anna Sports Ground in Palayamkottai to learn essential swimming skills.
As part of the campaign, awareness pamphlets were distributed to the public, reinforcing the department’s commitment to proactive safety measures and community engagement.
The initiative was met with appreciation from local residents, who lauded the fire department’s dedication to public welfare and their continued efforts to make Tirunelveli a safer place for all.
