Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a commendable display of prompt and effective policing, Tirunelveli district police successfully cracked a murder case and arrested three accused, including a minor, within a short span of time.
Ramanathan @ Ramkumar (48), a flour mill owner and table-and-chair rental operator from Veeranallur Bazaar, had a prior dispute with Selvamani Kandan, who runs a chicken shop in the same locality. On the day of the incident, Gautham, an associate of Selvamani Kandan, approached Ramkumar under the pretext of resolving the dispute and took him on a motorcycle.
When Ramkumar failed to return home, his wife promptly lodged a missing person complaint at Veeranallur Police Station. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and gathered vital leads. Based on credible information, Courtallam Police traced Ramkumar to a private lodge in Parasakthi Nagar, Courtallam, where he was found murdered.
Through sustained investigation and coordinated efforts, police identified and arrested Selvamani Kandan (30), Gautham (22), and a 17-year-old minor for their involvement in the crime. A murder case has been registered at Courtallam Police Station, and further legal proceedings are underway to remand the accused to judicial custody.
The swift detection of the case and arrest of the accused reflect the Tirunelveli police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for the victim’s family.
