Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: The district police have taken swift action against individuals spreading provocative content on social media following the recent incident near Nanguneri.
According to District Superintendent of Police, V. Prasanna Kumar, a total of 11 cases have been registered across the district against those posting messages that incite violence and disturb public peace and social harmony.
Police have arrested two individuals, while two minors have been taken into custody, in connection with the cases. Authorities said that district police teams are closely monitoring social media platforms to identify those spreading false or inflammatory information.
The Superintendent of Police warned that strict legal action will be taken without discrimination against anyone involved in such illegal activities. Police are also using modern technological tools to trace and apprehend other suspects linked to the registered cases.
The district police have urged the public to use social media responsibly and avoid sharing or circulating posts that could provoke violence or disrupt communal harmony.
