Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: To ensure a safe, peaceful and joyful celebration of the English New Year, the Tirunelveli City Police have intensified security arrangements across the city. Special police deployments have been made at public places, places of worship, main roads and entertainment hubs where large crowds are expected.
Across all police station limits, round-the-clock patrolling has been arranged with 9 armed two-wheeler units and 9 four-wheeler patrol vehicles, operating on a rotational basis. In addition, 12 extra two-wheeler patrol units have been pressed into service to strengthen visibility and rapid response.
Nearly 450 police personnel have been deployed to take strict action against violations such as dangerous bursting of firecrackers, drunken driving, over speeding, vehicle racing and activities that disturb public peace. The police have also intensified vehicle checks at key locations throughout the city to prevent accidents and unlawful activities.
The Tirunelveli City Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with the police, follow traffic and safety rules, and celebrate the New Year responsibly, ensuring a safe and incident-free welcome to the New Year.
