Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, May 16: As part of an ongoing initiative to combat cybercrime, the Tirunelveli District Cybercrime Police, under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan, IPS, are actively conducting awareness programs across schools and colleges in the district.
Led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Cybercrime) Murugan, the latest session focused on educating students about online safety. Key topics included the dangers of sharing personal photos on social media, the risks of responding to unsolicited text messages and video calls, and precautionary steps to avoid online fraud.
Students were also informed about official reporting channels such as the cybercrime helpline 1930 and the Government of India’s cybercrime portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in, where victims can report internet-related offenses.
The Tirunelveli Police remain committed to empowering the youth and public through proactive awareness, aiming to build a digitally safe and secure society.
