Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli: Demonstrating a commitment to public health and environmental safety, the Tirunelveli District Police organized a comprehensive awareness campaign on proper medical waste disposal under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police, Mr. N. Silambarasan, IPS.
The program, held under the supervision of Thalayuthu Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Raghupathi Raja and led by Manur Range Police Inspector Mr. Chandrasekaran, brought together panchayat members, medical shop owners, and local residents to raise awareness on the correct handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
The initiative focused on the responsibilities of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies in safely managing medical waste, and highlighted the potential public health risks and environmental hazards associated with improper disposal.
Officials emphasized the importance of legal compliance and community participation in ensuring a clean and safe environment, especially in healthcare settings. Attendees were encouraged to adopt best practices and report any violations to the authorities.
