CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Governor Mr. Vidyasagar Rao on Monday summoned the Director General of Police Mr. T K Rajendran (DGP), Chennai Police Commissioner Mr. S George and City Additional Commissioner Mr. P Tamaraikannan and has reportedly told them not to protect the interests of any particular political group. After the directions from the Governor, some policemen have been posted at Koovathur to prevent any major law and order situation there even as MLAs owing allegiance to AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala are staying at a resort for the past few days. Reports say that ‘guards’ appointed at the resort even clashed with the Police on Sunday. The governor who is watching the developments closely told the officials that the interests of the public must be protected. Sources say that the Chennai Police Commissioner has sought from all police stations in the city on the law and order status under their respective jurisdiction. A round-the-clock surveillance and raids at lodges, mansions, marriage halls and other places of public congregation, in order to prevent anti-socials taking shelter at these places has been ordered by the Police Commissioner. ]]>
