Due to the unending traffic problems faced by the police the Old Airport Road traffic police set aside their batons and took up the role of civil work on Thursday to shift the bus stop at Graphite Junction by about 300 metres. Every day, heavy traffic is seen on the road, especially during peak hours, as the metro work at Whitefield has begun. According to Mr. Mohammed M.A., Inspector of the Old Airport Road traffic police station the Traffic has always been heavy at Graphite Junction, but it has escalated because of the ongoing metro work, where 3 feet of the road has been barricaded . Bus commuters in particular are facing great problems as the bus stop is situated right at the junction, making it almost impossible for them to board a bus. “We shifted it 300 m away where there is space for a bus to stop and for commuters to board easily. Instead of waiting for the help of the authorities, we decided to act,” Mr. Mohammed said. Two constables, Mr.Nagaraj and Mr.Noorulla, volunteered to do the work and started on it after seeking permission from BBMP and BMTC officials. It took a few hours in the morning for the two constables to dig out the bus stop display board and shelter and shift them. By noon, the new bus stop was ready. To avoid confusion, a traffic policeman has been deputed to guide people to the new location. The effort was praised by passengers who observed, that the traffic police had achieved what the civic body and transport corporation could not.On behalf of Police news plus e-news we congratulate the outstanding work done by the Traffic police in favor of the public.
