<![CDATA[The traffic police will conduct special drives to control underage riders in the city. The special drives will be conducted on stretches close to schools, students of which were noticed riding two-wheeler without having driving license. Most of the student riders seen on city roads are also not using helmet. The special drives are expected to be continued till the end of summer vacation when cases of underage riding are reported high in the city. Mr. Sujit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), told that the awareness programmes are being conducted at schools in the city where they are advised on traffic rules and traffic etiquette to be followed apart from the ill-effects of underage riding. Mr. Sujit Kumar told that the police are also planning to have awareness sessions for parents with the support of parents teachers associations. This will help us to reach awareness messages to the parents and students at the same platform. The police also have plans to seek school administrations to check the use two-wheeler by students. Mr. Kumar told that incidents of accidents involving college students were reported high on roads close to some of the colleges in the city.Vehicle checking will be conducted on such stretches to control over speeding and also to ensure adherence to other traffic rules. Involvement of high-powered motorcycles in accidents have also been observed by the police. He added that some of the motorcycle dealers are giving simulator-based guidance to riders before delivering a new two-wheeler. They also provide helmets. But, users of high-powered motorcycles need more awareness on the use of the vehicles in Indian condition without causing threat to others lives.]]>
