<![CDATA[Two traffic policemen, who saved a cab driver suffering from epileptic attack on a busy road while ferrying passengers, were felicitated on Saturday by the Police Commissioner. Recently, Yogesh Kumar, driver of an app-based aggregator, picked up a few passengers near KSR-City railway station. As he approached the exit gate of the station, he suffered an epileptic attack and lost control over the car. He rammed the car on a road divider. Constable Mr. Yogesh and Head Constable Mr. Rame Gowda, attached to Chickpet traffic police station, were on duty at the time. When they approached the car, they found the driver frothing at the mouth. The two passengers, both women, immediately got off, took another cab and went away, the police told. While Mr. Gowda started clearing the traffic pile-up, Mr. Yogesh drove the cab to the hospital. Appreciating their timely action, The Police Commissioner Mr. T. Suneel Kumar felicitated the constables and awarded them Rs. 5,000 each. “Mr. Kumar was admitted to the emergency ward for treatment. The police alerted his family. The doctors said that timely action saved his life,” a police officer told. Mr. Yogesh returned to work and reported the matter to his senior officials, who brought it to the notice of the higher officials. Beat constable Mr. Usman and Mr. Beerlingappa were on their routine night beat on Saturday, when they saw a man near an ATM kiosk at Marathahalli around 1.45 a.m. Something didn’t seem quite right, especially when the man fled on seeing them. Mr. Usman slowly walked into the kiosk while Beerlingappa stood guard. On entering the kiosk, Mr. Usman saw another man trying to smash the ATM machine with a boulder. Before the perpetrator could turn, he pinned him to the ground. The two constables handed over the accused, later identified as Jacob, to the police, and alerted the police control room. A lone security guard slept through the mayhem. Based on the information provided by the constables, the Marathahalli police also arrested Jacob’s associate, Vinod. Appreciating the timely action, DCP Whitefield Mr. Abdul Ahad rewarded the two constables with Rs. 5,000 each. “Such appreciation is necessary to boost the morale of the force and encourage them to do more good work,” Mr. Ahad said.
