Tuticorin: According to the order of District Superintendent of Police Dr. L. Balaji Saravanan IPS Deputy Superintendent of Police Kovilpatti Mr. Venkatesh IPS under the supervision of Kovilpatti East Police Station Inspector Mr. Sujith Anand headed by Assistant Inspector Mr. Madhavaraja, and special police of Kovilpatti Utkota on 9.10.2022, while conducting a vehicle inspection in Kovilpatti to Chatur main road area under Kovilpatti East Police Station, stopped and checked a cargo vehicle which was passing through, in which Muthukrishnan(19) son of Thangaraj and Letchumanan from Nanguneri Koonthankulam area of Tirunelveli district were found. Son Krishnamurthy (27), and Kashi (A) Sakthivel son Nagaraj (26) of Karapattu area of Krishnagiri district were found to be illegally smuggling banned tobacco products and liquor bottles in a cargo vehicle. Immediately, the said police arrested the 3 criminals namely Muthukrishnan, Nagaraj and Krishnamurthy and confiscated 25,680 tobacco packets worth Rs.3, 06,000/-, 48 liquor bottles and the cargo vehicle used for smuggling from them. Also, the Kovilpatti East Police Station has registered a case and is investigating.
