Rachakonda: On 25.7.2020 Sheteam Kushaiguda division received one child marriage information at Srirama colony, near Yellamma temple, Balaji Nagar Jawahanagar Police Station limits, wherein one 17 Years minor girl (DOB 6.8.2003) resident of H No.3-11-18/9 Balaji Nagar Jawahanagar Mandal Medchal District marriage was fixed with one 21years old person who is the resident of Srirama Colony near Yellamma temple Balaji Nagar Medchal District and the marriage scheduled on 5.8.2020 at Yadagirigutta Temple. On that information, our SHE Team Kushaiguda Division along DCPU Medchal District and Child Helpline Officer went and explained about the problems of child marriages and counseled both parents and stopped child marriage and rescued the minor girl from the child marriage.
On 24.7.2020 Sheteam Kushaiguda division received one child marriage information at Nagaram Keesara Police Station limits, wherein one 16 Years minor girl who doesn’t have parents and she is staying with her uncle Narsimha, Aunt, Ellamma at Nagaran Keesara Mandal Medchal District marriage was fixed with one 26 years person who is the resident of Jawaharnagar Medchal District. The marriage scheduled on 24.7.2020 at Peddamma Temple Davender Nagar Jawaharnagar. On that information, our SHE Team Kushaiguda Division along Kushaiguda Police went and explained about the problems of child marriages and counseled both parents and stopped child marriage and rescued the minor girl from the child marriage.
Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda appreciated the good work done by the Kushaiguda SHE Team. According to the Child Marriages Prevention Act, we appealed to all the public performing marriages below the stipulated age is a crime. Priests, Wedding Card Printers, Elders, and supporters of the marriage, parents of the child will be held responsible for that. The Child Marriage Prohibition Act of 2006 is active now. Who permits, supports, performs, helps, attends will be accused and held under the Child Marriage Act. Under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2006 minimum of 2 Years, imprisonment and Rs.1Lakh fine are the punishment and even mediators too are responsible. 18 Years for girls and 21 Years for boys is the minimum marriage age. Due to early marriage maternal death of mother chances are high. Below 18 years old girls and boys should be in schools compulsorily as per the Right to Education Act 2010 and Supreme Court order 2009.
