Rachakonda: In an effort to root out drug smuggling activities from the Commissionerate and to create a sense of safety and security among the family system. To prevent college-going students and youth to fall in drug mafia. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda invoked PD Act against two of the gang members for illegal possession, transporting Ganja from Andhra Pradesh state to Hyderabad and Maharashtra state and detained them at Central Prison, Cherlapelly on 18.7.2020.
The accused Kethavath Prakash and Varthyavath Bhaskar are close friends and used to run travel business in the name and style “My Car Rental Service” at Hayath Nagar and meantime they came in contact with Ramavath Pandu who does ganja smuggling from Andhra Pradesh state. In a short period, the three became close friends, formed into a gang, and started procuring ganja from the Vishakapatnam area. They purchase ganja at the rate of Rs.3000/- per Kg and thus they have started earning easy money in a short period. They all invest equal amounts in the business and also share profits equally.
While doing clandestine business of peddling of ganja in the recent past during March 2020 they were caught by the police of Abdullapurmet, Vanasthalipuram and registered two cases against them in the police station limits of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate vide CR.No 227/2020 of Vanasthulipuram Police Station and CR No. 73 of 2020 of Abdullapurmet Police Station for Contravention of the provisions under Section 20 (iii) (B) and (C) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.
Police arrested the accused A1 to A3 on 3.3.2020 and seized 300 Kg Ganja, Mahindra XUV Car bearing No. TS12 EG 9521, Rs.1, 49,000/- net Cash and cell phones from their possession and remanded them to judicial custody. One of the above 3 accused namely Varthyavath Bhaskar was already detained under PD Act on 10.7.2020.
As such with a view to prevent the remaining two of them from committing such illegal activities and to preserve public health the preventive detention orders are invoked against them by Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda on 18.7.2020 and detained them in Central Prison, Cherlapelly. The details of the accused are Ramavath Pandu son of Ramavath Shankar aged 22 works as a driver and is a resident of H No.2-113/1, Solipet (V), Suryapet (M) and Kethavat Prakash son of Thulcha Naik aged 37, he is doing business and is a resident of Gajji Swamy Colony, Hayath Nagar (M), R.R District, N/O Podagutta Thanda, Eklashpet (V), Keshampet (M), R.R.District.
