<![CDATA[Two firemen from the Telangana Disaster Response & Fire Services Department, Mr. Thirjesi Satyam of Warangal Fire Station and Mr. Sunku Jagadesh of Cherlapally Fire Station, Medchal district have bagged two of the six fire service gallantry awards announced by the Central Government on the occasion of Republic Day. Both the fire service personnel had shown utmost bravery in rescuing people caught in two different fire mishaps. Mr. Satyam was involved in fire fighting when an operation theatre in the four-storeyed Rohini Super Speciality Hospital in Hanamkonda caught fire. Fire-fighting operations were taken up even as the smoke rapidly spread to the entire floor that resulted in zero visibility. In the 45-minute search and rescue operation, he broke open window panes and rescued nearly 20 patients which won him the highest level of appreciation. Mr. Jagadesh showed ‘valour and utmost dedication’ to duty when a massive explosion occurred at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LPG filling unit at Cherlapally. He took part in the fire-fighting operation that lasted for about four hours, an official release from the department said.]]>
