Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: In a successful anti-corruption operation, the Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Wing arrested a Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and a broker for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹4,000 in Nilakottai, Dindigul district.
According to officials, Kumar, a resident of Pallapatti village, had applied for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) required for transferring ownership of his agricultural electricity connection. It was alleged that Sathya (56), the VAO of Pallapatti, along with Santhakumar (44), a broker, demanded a bribe of ₹4,000 to process the request.
Following a complaint lodged by Kumar, a team from the Anti-Corruption Wing led by Nagarajan, along with Inspector Palanisamy, organized a trap operation.
During the raid, officials caught both individuals red-handed while accepting the bribe amount and immediately placed them under arrest. The Anti-Corruption police have seized the cash and initiated further legal proceedings.
Authorities stated that investigation and interrogation of the arrested persons are currently underway, reaffirming their commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring transparency in public services.
