Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari: On the orders of Kanyakumari District Superintendent of Police Dr. R. Stalin I.P.S., under the supervision of Nagercoil Sub-Divisional Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Lalithkumar I.P.S., the Nagercoil Traffic Police conducted a vehicle check in the Pattakasaliyavilai area. At that time, a two-wheeler driven by a (17) year old boy from Vadassery was seized and a case has been registered against the parents. Also, since January, a total of 19 children have been registered against the parents of “JUVENILE DRIVING CASE” under section 199A Motor Vehicle Act for the crime of allowing minors to drive. If these cases are taken up for filing in the Kanam JM II Magistrate’s Court, the parents of the children are likely to get the following punishments. (1) Fine of Rs 25000 (2) Imprisonment for three years (3) Cancellation of vehicle registration for one year. Vehicles will not be issued. (4) Prohibition on issuing driving licenses to children up to the age of 25 years. Therefore, with the school holidays approaching, parents are requested by the Nagercoil Traffic Police Station to be careful not to let their children drive.
