Tiruvannamalai: Vinayagar Chaturthi festival will be celebrated on Wednesday the 31st in Tiruvannamalai district. Usually, on Ganesha Chaturthi, various organizations including Hindu organizations worship Ganesha idols in important areas. For the past 2 years, there was a ban on worshiping Ganesha idols due to the corona virus. This year, after 2 years, permission has been given to worship Ganesha idols in public places. So this year, it is expected that the Ganesha Chaturthi festival will be celebrated with more enthusiasm than usual. In this regard, it has been informed on behalf of the district administration that those who want to erect Ganesha idols should get prior permission, they should erect idols only in permitted places, and processions of Ganesha idols will be conducted only on permitted routes.
In 2018, when the Ganesha idol procession was held, there was a riot due to the clash of two factions. The Vellore Freight DIG officer in charge Mrs. Sathyapriya IPS personally visited and inspected the places where Ganesha idols are paraded in Tiruvannamalai and took stock of the progress works to prevent any such incidents from happening. She advised the District Superintendent of Police Mr. Karthikeyan IPS and the police about the progress work to be carried out at that time. Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Gunasekaran IPS, Special Inspector of Police Mr. Dayalan and the police personnel were present during the inspection.
