Vijayawada: Vijayawada police on Tuesday arrested 11 people in connection with the murder of state-level footballer G Deepak Akash, 24, in Gurunanak Colony on May 31. The main accused in the case was identified as Prabha alias Srirama Gopi Krishna.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr.P Joshua disclosed the details of the case to media persons in the Vijayavada command control room, saying that Deepak Akash was killed on May 31 at his apartment in Kanakadurga Gazetted Officers Colony. Upon receiving information about the incident, Patna police reached the spot and conducted an investigation. The investigation revealed that Deepak Akash from Gunadala area had a dispute with Prabha alias Srirama Gopi Krishna over a woman.
On the night of the incident, Akash and Prabha and their friends were drinking alcohol. A fight broke out between Deepak Akash and Prabha under the influence of alcohol. Deepak Akash and Prabha got into an altercation while Deepak Akash was brutally murdered by Prabha alias Srirama Gopi Krishna along with 10 of his friends at the scene and fled. Special teams led by Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Mr.T. Kranthi Rana arrested 11 accused and conducted further investigation.
The City Top Police Officer has made it clear that special attention will be paid to curbing heinous crimes and that the culprits will be punished by the police. Police officials said they would open history sheets against those convicted of unscrupulous activities.
