Vijayawada: Vijayawada city police on Saturday along with Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation organized a ‘job fair’ for reformed criminals and unemployed youth to give a second chance to those with previous criminal histories. 224 candidates were selected and another 205 were shortlisted for the next round of interviews.
Of the total candidates selected, 37 have criminal histories. They have actively participated in counseling conducted by the city police.
Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Mr. Kanti Rana Tata IPS, Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and other officials were present at the job fair. Varun Motors Pvt Ltd, Icom Express, Kallam Textiles, Swiggy, Mohan Spintex India Ltd, VM Bakery Products Pvt Ltd, BYJU’S, InnoSource Services Pvt Ltd, RAMCOR Group, MedPlus, Diplus Company & Good Services, Lcir, 17 St. Worker Technologies and Master Minds Group of Schools participated in the job fair.
Vijayawada Police Commissioner Mr. Kanti Rana Tata said the main purpose of the program was to give those who have made mistakes in the past the opportunity to live with dignity for the rest of their lives.
“We have started identifying young people with criminal records and conducting counseling sessions for them with the help of task force and local police, psychiatrists and professional psychologists. 45 people with criminal histories want to start a new life,” CP explained.
MLA Mr. Malladi Vishnu lauded the efforts of the police department for reforms rather than the police methods of controlling criminals on a regular basis. The MLA said those who got the jobs should perform their duties diligently and make the department proud.
During the interaction, the selected candidates assured Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Mr. Kanti Rana and other officials that we would not engage in any anti-social activities.
