Tiruvarur: In preparation for the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival on 07.09.2024, a consultation meeting on security arrangements at locations where Vinayagar idols are installed was held on 06.09.2024 at the District Police Office. The meeting was led by Tiruvarur District Superintendent of Police, Mr. S. Jayakumar, M.Sc (Agri).
Key instructions regarding security for Ganesha Chaturthi were provided. Police officers were directed to ensure proper permissions were obtained for idol installations, adequate lighting was arranged at idol sites, and procession routes were clearly identified. Officers were instructed to maintain round-the-clock security at these locations after the idols were installed. Additionally, loudspeakers were prohibited in sensitive areas such as near schools and hospitals, and the placement of idols should be done in a way that minimizes public inconvenience and traffic disruption. It was also emphasized that safe electrical arrangements must be ensured by the responsible authorities at each site.
Police officers were advised to familiarize themselves with local dignitaries and residents in the areas where idols are placed and processions held, to facilitate smooth communication and ensure the idols’ immersion without incidents.
The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police (Cybercrime) Mr. V. Arulselvan, along with all Deputy Superintendents of Police, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Inspectors, and other police personnel assigned to security duties for Vinayagar idol installations in the Tiruvarur district.
