Wayanad, Kerala, July 9 – As part of its commitment to a drug-free society, the Wayanad District Police organized reels and poster competitions to mark International Anti-Drug Day on June 26, and honored the winners in a special award ceremony held at the District Police Office.
District Police Chief Shri Taposh Basumatari, IPS, distributed cash awards, certificates, and prizes to the winners and lauded the creativity and awareness demonstrated by participants. He urged the youth and public to stand united with the police in the fight against drug abuse.
Senior officers including District Addl. SP in-charge K.J. Johnson, DySPs M.M. Abdul Karim, M.K. Bharathan, P.L. Shyju, K.K. Abdul Sharif, V.K. Vishwambharan, along with Inspectors, SHOs, SIs, and other police personnel from across the district, attended the event.
In the Instagram Reels competition themed “Intoxication and Society”, the first prize was awarded to Shahnaz and Team (G.H.S.S. Kunjo). Anna Thomas and Team (St. Thomas College, Thrissur) and Devathirtha R. Nair & Achyut R. Nair (Vythiri) won second and third places respectively. Team Begin Verse (Puthumala) and Team Peacock Media (Kozhikode) received consolation prizes for their outstanding entries.
In the poster competition held for Student Police Cadets, N.A. Parvana (G.H.S.S. Thariyod) won first place, followed by Ayesha Misna (Nirmala H.S. Thariyod) in second, and S. Dhanush (G.A.H.S. Thirunelli) in third.
The District Police Chief announced that participation certificates will be issued to all contestants, recognizing their active role in spreading anti-drug awareness.
This initiative highlights Wayanad Police’s proactive approach in involving youth and the community in creating a drug-free future, blending creativity with social responsibility.
