Wayanad, Kerala: As part of the Wayanad District Police Sports Festival, a football tournament was inaugurated at Fitkasa Turf, Panamaram, marking the beginning of the district’s sporting celebrations.
The event was inaugurated by Kalpetta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) P.L. Shaiju. The inaugural function was attended by Special Branch DySP M.M. Abdul Karim, and members of the Sports Organizing Committee — Bipin Sunny, Irshad Mubarak, Noufal, and M. Khalid — who also addressed the gathering.
In the preliminary rounds, the Bathery Sub-Division team and the District Headquarters (D.H.Q) team secured their places in the finals after spirited performances.
The official inauguration of the Wayanad District Police Sports Festival will take place at 8 PM at the M.K. Jinachandran Memorial District Stadium, Kalpetta. The ceremony will be inaugurated by Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Sri O.R. Kelu, while former Indian Women’s Basketball Team Captain P.S. Jeena will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.
The football final and an athletic meet will also be held on the same day, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of police personnel. The closing ceremony of the festival will be inaugurated by District Police Chief Sri Taposh Basumatari, IPS.
The event highlights the Wayanad District Police’s commitment to promoting fitness, teamwork, and camaraderie among its personnel through sports.
