Madurai, Tamil Nadu, June 18 – The Tamil Nadu Working Journalists Association has put forth a series of welfare-related demands aimed at improving the living and working conditions of journalists. State President Shri Ravichandra Pandiyan submitted a formal petition at the Madurai District Collector’s office on behalf of the association.
The petition urged the administration to provide free housing allotments for journalists residing within the Madurai municipal limits. It also called for the allocation of dedicated rooms for association operations within the District Collectorate premises, and the immediate release of funds to the Tamil Nadu Press Welfare Board to support journalists’ welfare schemes.
The representation witnessed the active participation of several senior office-bearers including State General Secretary Religious Selvam, State Vice Presidents Vallatharasu and Jayaraman, State Secretaries Pandiyan and Murukesan, and State Treasurer Pushparajan. A large number of association members were also present, underlining the unity and resolve of the journalist community.
The association’s leadership emphasized that these measures are essential for the security, dignity, and operational effectiveness of working journalists across the state.
