Chennai: Chennai Metropolitan Commissioner of Police Mr. Shankar Jiwal IPS has directed to track down and arrest those who are smuggling and selling cannabis through ‘Drive against Drugs’ in Chennai. On the orders of Mr. Shankar Jiwal IPS, the police team led by the police inspectors is actively monitoring, arresting and taking action against those who smuggle and sell cannabis and narcotics.
Following this, the police team led by the MKB Nagar police station Inspector received a tip-off that a woman was secretly selling cannabis at 2nd Street, PV Colony, Vyasarpadi on 11.6.2022 afternoon.
Rama alias Aruppu Rama (49), a woman from Vyasarpadi, Chennai, was arrested for selling cannabis illegally. 16 kg of cannabis and Rs.1, 12,700 / – were seized from her possession.
The investigation revealed that there are already 3 cases in connection with the sale of cannabis at the K-1 Sembilan police station on the accused Rama alias Aruppu Rama.
The arrested accused Rama was produced in court today on 12.06.2022 after interrogation and was remanded in custody as per the court order.
