Tamil Nadu, Chennai: Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mr. A. Arun, I.P.S., inaugurated the newly renovated women constables’ barrack at the Pudupet Armed Forces Complex, named Poovaiyar Pothuncharchi Sittil. This modernized facility has been upgraded at a cost of Rs.36.64 lakhs to enhance the living conditions and welfare of women constables.
The barrack features well-equipped accommodation, including 30-bed ordinary rooms and 30-bed air-conditioned rooms, providing flexibility for different preferences and needs. Additionally, it houses 22 bathrooms and 25 dressing rooms, ensuring ample space for personal hygiene and convenience. For security and safety, the premises are monitored round-the-clock with CCTV cameras.
This facility has been designed to provide affordable accommodation to women constables at a nominal rent. Special arrangements have also been made for women constables who have recently completed their training and are posted to Chennai on transfer. These officers can avail of the accommodation for a maximum duration of 45 days, ensuring a smooth transition as they settle into their new postings.
The inauguration of this upgraded barrack reflects the Chennai Metropolitan Police’s commitment to improving infrastructure and providing a secure, comfortable, and well-equipped residential facility for its women personnel.
