Uttarakhand, Pithoragarh: On March 8, 2025, in observance of International Women’s Day, the police teams of Jajardeval and Dhat organized awareness programs aimed at educating women and young girls about their safety, legal rights, and the available mechanisms for seeking help in times of distress.
In Jajardeval, a team led by Station Officer (SO) Shri Prakash Pandey actively participated in a program organized by U.N. Meenakshi Manral and M. Constable Ankita at Panchayat Ghar Lelu. The event focused on raising awareness about crimes against women, their legal protections, and the measures they can take to safeguard themselves. The session included interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and guidelines on seeking immediate assistance from law enforcement agencies.
Simultaneously, in Dhat, an awareness program was conducted at Vidyasagar School under the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Shri Harish Singh, with the support of M. Constables Neema and Suman. The police team engaged with girl students and local women, educating them about various forms of crimes against women, including domestic violence, harassment, cybercrimes, and other forms of exploitation. They emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents promptly and without fear.
During both programs, the attendees were provided with essential information regarding helpline services such as 1090, a dedicated women’s helpline, and Dial 112, an emergency response service. The police encouraged women and girls to seek immediate help if they ever faced harassment, domestic violence, or any other crime. Additionally, they were advised to report such incidents at the nearest police station for swift action.
These initiatives by Jajardeval and Dhat police stations reflect their commitment to promoting women’s safety, empowerment, and awareness, ensuring that every woman knows her rights and has access to the necessary legal support.
