Bokajan: In a crackdown on illegal drug trade, the Dilai police apprehended two smugglers in Bokajan town in Karbi Anglong district of Assam with a staggering cache of intoxicating Yaba tablets which is valued at a whopping worth of Rs.8 crore.
A total of 40,000 Yaba tablets were seized during the executed Naka raid being conducted by the Dilai police.
The apprehension was unfolded as a vehicle bearing the registration number AS-14-E-9137, traveling from Dimapur to Hojai was flagged for inspection in the Naka raid.
The officials upon closer scrutiny into the vehicle discovered that the contraband was ingeniously concealed within the engine compartment highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by the smugglers now a days to evade detection.
Upon investigations the two suspects who is identified as Islam Uddin and Mujiba Begum, were taken into custody in Hojai of Assam.
The authorities have praised the diligence and swift action of the Dilai police in intercepting the illegal consignment and preventing its distribution into the region.
