Pipelines were laid connecting the refinery to the port. In the late 1970s, pilferage of oil from unguarded pipelines were frequently reported. After failed attempts by the company’s staff to prevent the pilferage, the Union Government directed the State Government to establish a police station on the premises of CPCL. Following disinvestment by the Centre, CPCL became a part of IOC in 2001. Since then, the police station is known as IOC police station, but its duty remains unchanged. The IOC police station is one of 12 police stations in the Washermenpet Police District, which includes R.K. Nagar, Tondiarpet, Royapuram and Kasimedu police stations. The police station is now getting a new building on the same premises — Lube Blending Plant of IOC in Tondiarpet.]]>
