Mumbai: As a kidnapping case of a baby boy was being investigated by the Thane Police they came across a woman based in Nasik and after her arrest, a previous case of kidnapping was solved as they took into custody a 2-month-old baby from her possession. According to this case, the baby boy went missing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus earlier this year. According to the case the police was investigating, the 10-month-old boy, Salman went missing from Mumbra on February 3 while he was playing with his sister, Sonia aged nine. While examining the CCTV camera footage it showed that a burqa-clad woman was taking Salman away. The Unit I of the Thane Crime Branch conducted parallel investigation into the case. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Deepak Deoraj, Thane Crime Branch, said as we were scanning the CCTV footage of all the railway stations in Mumbai and Thane to trace the movements of the suspect. We came across a similar case had been registered with the CSMT railway police on March 29, stating that a two-month-old boy had gone missing from the station. A study was done on the footage of the case and similarities were found in the movements of the burqa-clad woman in our case. The police initiated a joint investigation into the case and based on the information got by the police with the help of the mobile number traced the accused to Panchavati in Nashik, and a team was sent to the location. An officer with the Unit I said, as the team reached the house of the suspect, Neelam Bora aged 39 that is located in Shraddha Park of Nashik on April 14. The two month-old boy was found in her house, and both of them were brought to Thane. After presenting the boy to his parents, they identified him as their son, and Ms. Bora was arrested and charged with kidnapping under the Indian Penal Code The police officer said that the inquiries conducted have not established Ms. Bora’s involvement in the Mumbra case. During interrogation, Ms. Bora told the police that she kidnapped the baby because she did not have a child of her own even though she was married for several years. She said when she saw a waste picker’s son, lying unattended at the station she picked up the child.  ]]>
