Bengaluru: A woman passenger who lost a box containing 100 grams of gold at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna railway station on Sunday morning got it back within a few hours thanks to the honesty of a man. The value of this gold is around Rs 4.8 lakh.
A licensed porter (railway attendant) Mohammad Ijaz found the box at the station and handed it over to the sub-station manager, an official release said. Sangeeta, the owner of the box, had alighted from the Thalaguppa-Mysore Express around 5 am with her family. The family had planned to take a connecting train from there to Bangarapet. At this time, he was waiting at platform 10 for about two to three hours. Then he came to platform 6 to board the next train.
At this time, she noticed that the box containing gold which she kept in the side pocket of her bag was missing. Later, they contacted the City Railway Police for help. The railway official, who had received the box from the porter, alerted the Railway Protection Force. After completing the legal formalities it was handed over to the rightful owner of the box in the presence of Railway Police.
Due to this the passengers thanked the entire railway team, Mohammad Ijaz .
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Administration) Kusuma Hariprasad said that Ijaz, who returned the box containing the gold, will be given a suitable reward.
