BENGALURU: The Bengaluru City Police will now have Bungee Dancer, Locked Away, Resham and Thoran on patrol, yes these are the names of four horses from the stables at City Armed Reserve Police , Mysuru Road that will the City Police patrol team from Thursday. Bengaluru Police said, these horses and their riders in reflective gear will patrol Commercial Street, Brigade Road and Cubbon Park from 3 pm to 9 pm to help the general public on few days of the week. Plans are also being made to have a full-fledged mounted Police company on the lines of their counterparts in Mysuru city soon, Police said. Mr. Praveen Sood, IPS, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner said, “Mounted patrolmen will be deployed in their designated spots on specific days and they have been instructed to help pedestrians or anyone who approaches them for assistance”. For the moment a four-member mounted patrol squad will be deployed at Commercial Street on Tuesdays and on Brigade Road on Thursdays and on Saturdays and Sundays they will be spotted at Cubbon Park. The initiative is too aimed to ensure quick and effective response to citizens in public spaces, the Commissioner of Police said Mr. Sood said. The total number of horses will be increased from five to 11 in the coming days and the additional horses are expected to be brought from the Mysuru mounted Police company. The Bengaluru Police have also charted a schedule as per which its specialized vehicles, including the Vajra water jet vehicle and armoured cars, would be parked on standby mode on designated spots apart from mounted personnel, Police said.]]>
