Kolkata: In Kolkata’s Malda district four police officers were injured when they were attacked by a mob on 21 August. The incident took place in Kumarganj village, when a team of 15 officers of the Pukuria police station were returning to office after arresting a couple from the village, about 40 km from Malda town. Superintendent of Police of Malda, Mr Arnab Ghosh said that, “Four of our officials were attacked today (Sunday) by some locals and they sustained injuries, the investigation were on”, he said. No one has been arrested in the case so far. Critical condition Locals said, when the police team, which went to the village on Saturday night were on their way back to the police station a mob surrounded their vehicles and assaulted them with bamboo sticks and bricks to free the arrested, two among the four injured police officers are in a critical condition. Admitted The injured police officers are currently admitted in the Malda Medical College and Hospital. A mob attacked the local police station in the Kaliachak area of Malda district, in January, early this year. Nearly a dozen police officers were injured in the attack then.]]>
