Thrissur, Kerala: In a commendable effort, a team from Thrissur City Police traced a 26-year-old man who had been missing from his home for nine months and located him in Delhi. The successful operation by Medical College Police Station brought relief to his worried family and ensured his safe reunion with his parents.
The missing man, Adith, son of Haridasan of Nezhuvankattil House, Avanur Mailadunkunnu, had left home on December 30, 2025, reportedly in search of employment. Following a complaint from his family, the Station House Officer of Medical College Police Station registered a case and launched an investigation.
Technical Investigation and Persistent Follow-Up
During the initial investigation, analysis of Call Detail Records (CDR) indicated that Adith was in Chennai. However, tracing his movements became difficult after he lost his mobile phone.
Later, Adith contacted his parents using an unfamiliar phone number. By tracing the number and contacting its owner, police obtained information suggesting that Adith had been in Delhi. However, he had already left that location.
Adith reportedly contacted his parents only occasionally, using different phone numbers, without revealing his whereabouts or circumstances. These challenges made the search particularly difficult and required sustained investigative efforts.
Dedicated Search Operation in Delhi
On September 17, acting on the directions of senior officers, a police team travelled to Delhi to continue the search. The team prepared a route map using locations associated with the phone numbers Adith had contacted.
Police personnel searched several locations, including Sarojini Market, Karol Bagh Market, Central Market and Yashwant Market. They also visited mosques, temples, places providing free meals and nearby slum areas, showing Adith’s photograph and making inquiries among local residents.
Although some people recognised him from the photograph, the team could not locate him during the initial searches. The officers continued their efforts, and at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Adith was finally found near a juice shop in the Sarojini Nagar area.
Man Found Exhausted; Reunited with Parents
When located, Adith was reportedly weak and exhausted. The police team provided him with food and clothing and took care of his immediate needs.
During questioning, he explained that he enjoyed travelling and living independently. He had reportedly survived by eating at places that offered free meals and sleeping under bridges or on the streets.
After completing the necessary procedures, Adith was produced before the court and subsequently released into the custody of his parents, bringing the prolonged search to a conclusion.
Police Team Commended for Dedicated Efforts
The operation involved Thrissur Assistant Commissioner Rajesh, Medical College Police Station SHO Kiran S., Sub-Inspector Kabir T.K., and Civil Police Officers Abhijith Johnson and Shahid K.M.
The case highlights the importance of persistent investigation, technical analysis and coordinated field searches in tracing missing persons, particularly when leads are limited and the individuals frequently change their locations.
The successful recovery of Adith and his reunion with his family reflect the dedication of police personnel in pursuing missing-person cases and providing relief to distressed families.
