Thrissur City, Kerala: In a continued drive against drug trafficking and the illegal sale of narcotic substances, Nedupuzha Police arrested two accused persons in separate drug-related cases and recovered MDMA in one case.
In the first case, Nithesh, 35, a native of Kunnathur, Palakkad, residing at Swarna Nivas, was arrested on September 10, 2026, for allegedly possessing 0.86 grams of MDMA for sale. Acting on reliable information that the accused was present with the contraband at his rented residence in Koorkanchery, Nedupuzha Police conducted a search and recovered the MDMA allegedly kept for distribution. The accused was subsequently produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
In another significant development, Nedupuzha Police arrested Abhijit, 29, alias “Cheruthu,” a native of Velappaya, Kulangara House, in connection with a case involving the alleged transportation of methamphetamine from Bengaluru to Kerala.
The case dates back to July 11, 2026, when police arrested Shameer at Vattapponni and recovered 25.5 grams of MDMA from his possession. During the investigation, police also arrested Vishnu Vijayan, who was allegedly involved in supplying the drug to Shameer.
Further investigation reportedly revealed that Abhijit had allegedly supplied the contraband from Bengaluru. Following the development, Abhijit reportedly fled to Bengaluru. The investigation team continued efforts to trace him and, after receiving information that he had returned to his native place, apprehended him during a coordinated operation.
Abhijit was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. Police further stated that the alleged offence was committed while he was on bail in a commercial-quantity drug trafficking case registered at Peechi Police Station.
The arrests and recoveries reflect the continued efforts of Nedupuzha Police to identify drug networks, trace suppliers and take legal action against persons allegedly involved in the distribution and transportation of narcotic substances.
