<![CDATA[The Bengaluru district police seized 42 kg of gold jewellery that was being transported in an SUV on Friday. Ahead of the Assembly elections, the police were monitoring vehicle movement at Balepura check-post near Channarayapatna and intercepted the SUV. As many as three men, who were in the car, were detained for questioning as they were not carrying documents to account for the gold. A police officer said, the men told us that the gold was being couriered to a Chennai jeweler. However, we were given no prior intimation of this. The men also did not have any documents to substantiate their claims. The police have notified the Commercial Tax Department and are investigating the case.]]>
